Sci-Fi Korean Robot Is Actually Very Real 2022

Sci-Fi Korean Robot: A robot from South Korea is gaining attention for both its looks and function. The Method 2 robot bears a striking resemblance to the robots of the silver screen, but could soon see action in the DMZ between South and North Korea.

The robot was designed in part by Vitaly Bulgarov, who worked with Boston Dynamics on bipedal robots and the Transformers movies at ILM. Method 2 has a cinematic quality to it, bringing to mind the armored exoskeletons of films like James Cameron’s Avatar, but it’s not overly CGI.

The creators of Method 2 at Hankook Mirae Technology claim that “the robot is the world’s first manned bipedal robot and is designed to operate in extremely dangerous areas where humans cannot (unsafely) go.” That’s according to Mira company chairman Yang Jin-ho, who also noted that the robot was in “baby steps” and needed a few years before it was allowed to “move freely.”

Yang says the robot, which can also be used for construction and manufacturing, should be available for commercial sale in late 2017, which is all that stands between you and your Hollywood dream robot. That would be $8.3 million.
