Robot: A horrifying video was produced by a Los Angeles-based production company, which used killer robots in place of troops to great effect.
In just two days, the video on YouTube has racked up over two million views.
Keep calm: this is a spoof. As we’ve said before, this is satire. There’s no need to hoard canned foods or go to your cellar (yet).

The military’s use of robotics and artificial intelligence has been called terrifying by some. Carnegie Mellon students and teachers are concerned about the new Army AI research base on campus, and Google employees opposed working on an AI project for the United States military.

It’s hard to deny the appeal of a killer robot movie.

This weekend marks the release of Terminator: Dark Fate in theatres, but this teaser trailer may be even more frightening than the film itself owing to its convincing realism. Robotic troops are depicted in a spoof video by Corridor Digital, an L.A.-based production firm that specializes in visual effects. In the future, humans will no longer be needed.

This robot moves at a breakneck pace! It is able to blast targets with incredible accuracy (despite being pelted by enormous items)! When troops push it over, it may chase after them and aim a pistol at their chests thereafter! A standoff would be no problem for this device!

The spoof is an obvious reference to Boston Dynamics, a Massachusetts-based robotics company that frequently posts footage of its robots in action. Robots that look like dogs like Spot and humanoid robots that look like Slenderman walk around the forest and practice Parkour are now available for businesses to rent.

In the realm of parody robotics videos, this isn’t the first time Corridor Digital has made a foray. As far back as June, the business posted a video showing a Boston Dynamics-looking robot beating humans up in an industrial facility.

The problem is that people were convinced that the video was real and freaked out. Because of this, Corridor created a film to show how they recreated the Boston Dynamics robot and produced the video (hint: lots and lots of CGI).
