As N’Golo Kante Drives his Stunning new Mercedes to Chelsea Training, He Swaps his Beloved Mini for a Mercedes

N’GOLO KANTE has finally treated himself to a flashy footballer’s car – turning his Mini into a brand new Mercedes. The Chelsea midfielder, who turned up for a test earlier in the week before being granted compassionate leave due to coronavirus fears, is regarded as one of the world’s most down-to-earth stars.

And part of that was down to the fact he was holding on to the Mini Cooper he bought when he arrived in Leicester in 2015. There were reports that the Frenchman initially started running for Foxes training before he was required to drive.

So he went for a modest Mini for around £20,000 and fell in love with the British classic. The original he picked up has been sent back to France so he can drive it when he goes home, having bought a similar model after signing for Chelsea in 2016.

Even after a minor accident with a lorry on the King’s Road in Chelsea, he kept going with the Mini, even turning up at Cobham with the front wheel arch. But the lockdown appears to have given Kante time to decide on a well-earned upgrade as he returned to driving for Mercedes on Tuesday after a coronavirus break.

After all, he has won a World Cup, two Premier Leagues, an FA Cup, and a Europa League and was named the Premier League, PFA, and FWA Player of the Year in 2017. On top of that, he signed a new contract in November 2018 worth £290,000 per week.

And it’s not just a new car that Thorne is sporting… when he decided to grow his hair while he was cooped up indoors. Chelsea couldn’t believe their eyes after getting used to the midfield dynamo’s bald bonanza.

One said: “Having prickly hair is one of the many crazy things to come out of this time…” Another, slightly more enthusiastic supporter added: “Has barbs!!! I repeat barbs.”

And one claimed: “The world is not quite ready for hairpins.” Kante wasn’t the only blues star to arrive in Cobham’s style. Olivier Giroud responded to Karim Benzema’s “go-kart” comments by driving to the training ground in a slick black convertible Ferrari.

Chelsea returned to training on Tuesday, working in groups of five and following social distancing guidelines, as they begin to prepare for the Premier League’s resumption in June.
