Boris Becker was one of the most notable tennis players and pundits who won Wimbledon three times. But now he has been sentenced to jail for hiding his millions after his 2017 bankruptcy. The tennis player was accompanied by their girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Montero in court during the hearing.
Boris Becker is dating Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. Lilian was born on the African island of Sao Tome and Principe, where her father was the country’s defense minister and ran for president in 2014. Given her father’s employment, it may come as no surprise that Lillian pursued a career as a political risk analyst in London.
He holds three degrees, including a Masters in African Studies from the London School of African and Oriental Studies. Highly educated Lillian speaks five languages including German, English, and her native Portuguese. She was in her 40s when she first met Boris Becker, who has been married twice before.
What is Boris Becker’s Net Worth?
Boris Becker’s worth was previously reported to be at least £127 million. However, he was declared bankrupt in 2017 due to unpaid debts of more than £3m on his property in Spain.
During his trial, the court heard he earned £38m in prize money and sponsorship, equivalent to around £100m in today’s money. However, Baker managed to squander the bulk of his fortune and today is estimated to be worth just £800,000.
A large chunk of his earnings went towards an expensive divorce settlement with his first wife Barbara, estimated to be worth around £ 12 million. Baker was also ordered to pay an alleged £2 million to Russian model Angela Ermakova, the mother of his third child.
However, Baker also lived an expensive lifestyle that proved unsustainable. Every month he was paying £22,000 in rent for a house in Wimbledon. And he also invested a reported £8m in the Nigerian oil market, which saw the price plummet.
